Jeff -
This problem often occurs because of loose wire terminals. It seems that at
times Brent has had wire assemblers with weak hands, unable to crimp them
properly, or just lazy. They are such great wheels, but I have seen this
problem occur a number of times.
Remove the cover of the control unit, where the switch is located, and check
all the wire terminals. Each female spade terminal should be a very tight
fit over the male spade terminal, and the wires should be tightly crimped in
the sleeve of the terminal. If any of the wires are loose in the terminal,
you will need to go to a hardware store or home improvement center and buy
a wire crimping tool - it is like a pair of pliers but it has a special jaw
for crimping wire terminals. Re-crimp any terminal sleeves that you are
unsure of. If any of the female spade terminals are loose on the male
terminals, you can slide them off, pinch down slightly on the female
terminal, and slide it back on the male terminal. If it fits tightly, fine,
if not, repeat the process.
If this doesn't do it, then there is probably a problem with one of the
electronic components, and you will have to get someone who knows
electronics to take a look at it.
Regarding the "whine" when the wheel is under load, that is normal.
Good luck -
