september tile conference: minnesota

The Tile Heritage Foundation will be holding a conference/symposium
September 18-21, 2002, in Minneapolis and Saint
Paul Minnesota, USA.

"Tiles in the Twin Cities: The Quintessence of Handicraft" will be a 4
day symposium of
lectures, tours, exhibitions, workshops,and a festval and sale of both
antique and
contemporary tiles.

Following info is an excerpt from a recent news release sent to members
and friends of Tile Heritage Foundation.,.

"Joining Tile Heritage will be the American Swedish Institute, The
Handmade Tile Association, the Minneapolis Institute
of Arts, The Minnesota Historical Society, and the Northern Clay center.
Our focus will be 19th century decorative arts,
the Handicraft Guild, the Arts and Crafts movement, architect Cass
Gilbert, Prairie School Architecture, traditional tile
stoves, as well as the contemporary tiles of the area."

If you would like a registration brochure sent to you by mail, contact
the Tile Heritage office. The brochure will be
available in May.
Special accommodation rate of $99 (double occupancy) has been arranged
at the Radisson Metrodome.

my note:
Membership is required for conference registration I believe.
Individual memberships are $45, but find out more from
THF.

Tile Heritage Foundation is a very worthy organization headed by Joseph
and Sheila Taylor. THF is dedicated to 'research
and preservation of Ceramic Surfaces' , that's the short version anyway!
