Silkscreen Printmaking on Clay
with Jackie Kierans

In this hands on workshop learn how to work with silkscreening to create =
different surface elements and decals on clay. Jackie will demonstrate =
how to prepare a silkscreen using a photographic emulsion techniques and =
freehand techniques using resists. She will also discuss ceramic slips =
and engobes used when printing on wet and bisque fired clay. Participants =
will get to try printing on wet clay slabs and produce their own overglaze =
decals. An exciting new direction to take in surface decoration!

Jackie Kierans is currently a graduate student at George Washington =
University. In May 2002 she will complete her studies specializing in =
silkscreen printmaking on clay. She also teaches a ceramic decoration =
class at GWU and art at the British School of Washington. She has =
exhibited her ceramics and drawings in individual and group shows in Los =
Angeles and Washington, DC.
