Lead vapourises in firing from any glaze containing it...either raw or =
fritted...
Any doubting Thomas can prove it for themselves.
1. Refire any pot bearing a glossy glaze with Lead as the major flux two =
or three times and you will find that the glaze surface becomes =
increasing underfluxed and matt.
2.Fire a pot made with a red wellfluxing body with an unglazed surface =
...very close to a Lead glazed pot and you can expect to see a =
'flashing'
I observed these all the time when I was working with Earthenware
If you want to see your children grow up ... and you are using any glaze =
containg Lead.. then handle with great care and a lot of very good =
ventilation in firing.
Pot Safely... Gwyn in N.Z.
