Here's a repost of the one I did for the mug exchange thread:

HOW TO PACK FOR SHIPPING (FOR BEGINNERS)
YOU’LL NEED:
1) 2 CARDBOARD BOXES:THE INNER ONE SHOULD BE AT LEAST
3” BIGGER THAN THE WRAPPED ITEMS ON ALL SIDES. OUTER
BOX SHOULD BE AT LEAST 3 INCHES BIGGER THAN INNER BOX ON
ALL SIDES.
2) NEWSPAPER OR BUBBLE WRAP IN WHICH TO WRAP ITEMS, AND FOR PACKING
INTO SPACES. PEANUTS AREN’T RELIABLE SINCE THEY TEND
TO ALLOW SETTLING.
3) PACKING TAPE, NOT MASKING OR SCOTCH.

WRAP ITEMS IN 5 LAYERS OF NEWSPAPER(OR 3 INCHES OF BUBBLEWRAP)
AND PUT INTO INNER BOX WITH MORE NEWSPAPER TIGHTLY PACKED IN ON
ALL SIDES. YOU SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO FEEL THE CONTOURS OF THE POT
AFTER IT'S WRAPPED. EACH WRAPPED ITEM SHOULD BE AT LEAST 5
INCHES FROM ANY OTHER ITEM. TAPE BOX SHUT AND PUT INNER BOX
INTO OUTER BOX, TIGHTLY PACKING IN PAPER ON ALL SIDES AND
BOTTOM. TAPE ALL SEAMS. SHIP UPS IF POSSIBLE. YOU’LL NEED THE
STREET ADDRESS.

YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH ONE BOX: ALLOW ABOUT 6 INCHES OF SPACE
BETWEEN POT AND ALL SIDES OF BOX. LINE BOX ON ALL SIDES WITH
CLOSED EGG CARTONS(can be cut to fit), BOTTOMS FACING OUT. PUT
NEWSPAPER (OR BUBBLE )WRAPPED POT IN, SQUEEZE IN PAPER TO FILL
SPACES, AND TOP WITH MORE EGG CARTONS. TAPE BOX SHUT AND TAPE
ALL SEAMS.

POTS SHOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO JIGGLE OR MOVE IN ANY WAY WHEN
YOU'RE DONE...THE BOX SHOULD BE ABLE TO BE DROPPED 5 FEET ONTO CONCRETE.
DO NOT VARY FROM THIS PROCEDURE TIL YOU'VE SENT OUT 12 SHIPMENTS
WITHOUT BREAKAGE!! EXPERTS MAY CUT CORNERS WHEN EXPERIENCE
TELLS THEM WHERE! ;-) chuckle
