The Del McCoury Band. You can't go wrong with Del. Bluegrass from head to
toe. Steve Earle did an album with Del McCoury. Look that one up. Or go
to http://www.kohoradio.com They broadcast bluegrass, with commentary,
every weekday morning from 6 AM PST until 10. You can listen with Abacast,
a Windows program. Sam Bush, Dan Timinski, Nickel Creek, Ricky Scaggs and
Kentucky Thunder (They blow the dust off of everything), Frontline, and the
list goes on...

sam bush. lonesome river band. seldom scene. front range. bela fleck
(his style is called 'newgrass', but he also plays jazz). allison
krauss and union station. there are some CDs out that aren't completely
bluegrass but i love them - yo-yo ma assembled the musicians - joshua
bell, edgar meyer, mark o'connor, sam bush, bela fleck, to name a few.
one of the CDs is called 'appalachian journey', and another is
'appalachian waltz'.
some of the music can be gospel based, but if you're not into that stuff
(i'm not), i just ignore the lyrics and enjoy the music.
if you want more suggestions, feel free to e-mail me offlist.

If you like the Oh brother... soundtrack try an artist by the name of Keb
Mo'. His self titled CD that won him the Grammy a few years back is his best
work to date. Great Throwin music in the ceramic studio! He's located is the
blues section in most record stores. Also try any Robert Johnson CD. He's
recognized as the king of the Delta Blues and you'll here Keb Mo' pay
tribute to him on his earlier albums. Those Soggy Bottom Boys are still
around so look for a new CD early next year. Les H.
