Hmmm... big fan of attitude; a lot can be said of
movement and (the "G" word) gesture. Also enjoy
watching handle pulling a great deal. Especially when
I used to work on Long Island, and we'd get these
women in who were so afraid to try doing a handle.
Really grossed out by the whole idea. I always felt
bad for their husbands. I really like a good handle,
and the way a pot moves. In men, it's a bit different,
since I always have a hard time getting a handle on
them, but general form and movement are actually
pretty important. A confidence is necessary in both
pots and men, and awkwardness in either really bothers
me. Sorry. Couldn't remember if the original post was
supposed to be comparative or not, but I guess for me
it was. Thank you Cher for being a little dirty; I
felt more comfortable sharing my voyeuristic handle
watching enjoyment. It really isn't sexual, it's more
the psychology of people and their own comfort with
being sexual. I'm from a younger generation than many,
and it's fascinating to observe people who were
brought up to be ashamed of their bodies and
sexuality. They always seem to be afraid to try making
larger forms, new shapes, using more clay. Ahhhh...
people and clay are so interconnected. Please, no
emails, saying, "Duh... and you just figured that one
out, Einstein?" Jules

I guess the "younger generation" is no freer from stereotypical sexism and
ageism than all us old coots out here.
Got my 4th Harley at 59, got my 8th tattoo at 60, married my third wife
(who's probably younger than you) at 62, sold everything in the States and
moved to a new life in Costa Rica at 63, as far as the sexuality is
concerned, participated as a member of the SOJ (and that's not Society of
Jesus) at the San Francisco Folsum Street Fair at 60, 61, and 62. And, more
on topic, started to learn to make new shapes using clay at 64 and only a
few months later (as I recently wrote) am already beginning to feel its
sensuality and life.
Thanks,
Martin
