The chair to which you allude is called a "Balans" chair. Had a padded
kneeler in front and a shaped seat. Your legs tucked back, as though you
were kneeling, but higher than on the floor. The weight of the body is
divided equally on the knees and the butt, forcing the spine more erect.
Unless you can figure out a way to operate a pedal with your knee, I don't
think it would be a comfortable or practical potting chair. They are great
for working at a computer!
A better seat would be a three-legged stool with one leg shorter than the
other two. The two long legs go to the back and the short one to the front.
This slants your body forward, allowing you to use more of your natural
leverage to shape the clay.
I use a plain bench, tilted slightly forward.
