I explained all this thoroughly in a post just a few days ago. Use at least
60% grog or sand in the clay. Nestle the piece down slightly on the soft
clay so that it is perfectly evenly supported. Use fresh wads/coils in the
bisque and in the glaze firing. The coils are throw-away every time.
