Hi All,
I've been searching all the ceramic supply houses on the web, sending
emails by the dozen, but cannot find a plastic mold for making Randall
bucket-head bats. I've checked all the leads clayarters have offered but
all
have been dead ends. I know there must be one laying on a self someplace,
no
longer used, with an owner willing to sell. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. I'm down to 8 bats and in the middle of a throwing frenzy. I
can be reached off list.
Adding to the hydrobat discussion, I have bats made with pottery
plaster and bats made with hydro-cal. The hydrobats are quite a bit heavier
and take longer to dry but I still greatly prefer them to plaster. They are
so much more durable, and I don't worry about bits of plaster getting into
my
reclaimed clay. I've got my 50 LB bag of hydro-cal sitting there...now if I
could only find the damn mold to make them.
Thanks for the help, Cher Hoffman

Cher
Try Steve Jepson in Geneva Florida. He advertises in Ceramics Monthly.
I got mine from Randall. They used to advertise in Ceramics Monthly. I'd bet
if you looked in an old issue, you would find the address.
You could make your own. Soap up a bat that you have and use some resin and
fiberglass cloth. If you do not know how to do it I'm sure that you know
someone that can. Try the Yellow Pages.
