not alone any more & glaze chemicals in baggage

Great news, Martin, on finding a teacher and three friends to join the
class.
Perhaps this is obvious but, when anyone tries to bring glaze chemicals back
from the US in their suitcase, be prepared for questions at Airport
Security. The bags of chemicals show up as solid lumps and cause, quite
correctly, questions. Security will want to see the bags so pack them for
easy access. (Double and triple wrap too because spilled white powders are
NOT a good idea.) Have the packing slips from the pottery supply company
available and the Materials Safety Data Sheets too. I didn't need the
latter as the supervisor took my word for it that none of the chemicals were
inflammable but I will have MSDS's available next time in case I run in to a
"stickler". People get nervous about what they do not understand and it's
very likely none of the Security people will know chemistry. All this to
save postage - yes. It's well worth it.
Best regards,
Carol
