changing bisque fire from ^06 to ^04 - test tiles

updated thu 18 apr 02

I plan to change my bisque temp up from ^06 to ^04. I have several hundred
test tiles already bisqued to ^06. Should I refire them to ^04 so when I use
them for testing they will behave like pots fired to ^04? Or should I just
use them as is since most glaze tests are just steps leading to the final
destination and rarely ever the EUREKA one dreams about? Or should I dump
them and make some new ones and fire them to ^04?
Thanks for any input.
Best regards,
Carol

Hi Carol;

I don't think you will have a problem. You may need to soak for 15 or 20
minutes to make sure any gas bubbles have time to heal over, but I do that
anyway.

Use them as gap fillers in your next bisque firings to ^4. The only time
to dump them is if the test is NBG (no b***** good).
