I'm trying to compile as much technical information as I
can about plasterclay and its uses, as well as trying to
find anybody who has made work with it. All and any leads
are appreciated.
Thanks,
Ayumi Horie

I have some experience with this type of clay. What are you looking for?
General rules:
No more than 30% plaster per 100% of clay
Dry mix all materials first
Get all of your forms ready
Add water and mix. You have about 20 minutes to get the clay into the molds
before it sets.
Make sure your cast wall section is no thicker than 4"
If you really get stuck, go watch an old bronze caster make investments out
of clay, plaster, and sand:)
General thoughts:
Any claybody should work
Make smaller batches in the beginning.
Toss out what you do not use.
Make boom boom sounds just for the heck of it as you are loading the kiln
for the first time.
If you work in a common studio, your peers will be very afraid of you. At
least they won't borrow your tools or work table:)
