I have been using the same "peach to red" Shino for about 2-3 years. I =
know I need to experiement with other shinos but for now this one is =
pretty exciting and variable. These photos with the exception of the =
last tea bowl were fired to cone ten in by backyard in a converted =
electric kiln in 8 1/2 hours. The teabowl at the end was fired at school =
in their gas kiln. Reduction at about 012., 03, 06 and 10 dropping. =
Clear for about 1/2 hour then ofGo to www.fotki.com/cgreen look for soda =
fire album.

Alabama State University --where I have just been told by the =
administration that I must stop producing my work at the university and =
must take my 2 wheels, clay, glazes, wedging table and other misc. =
equipment home. Until they can figure out if I was using the University =
for personal gain---do the math--four wheels two were mine, with cont. =
ed ( 4-5 students) we had 13-20 glazes in use about ten clay 1's per =
semester a 7 cu ft. elect. (schools) and a 30 Cu ft. gas kiln (schools).

In the letter we were told that we needed to get our stuff out of
the studio and to cease production because the chair need to examine the =
way
supplies are bought for courses and that a policies manaul ( I fear that =
I
will have no input on this) will be written after a study is taken to
examine "the ratio of output on the part of students with reference to =
the
amount of supplies for classes from the amount of money alloted to the
departement for individual classes." The main issue is the volume of
production and the funds coming from "three" sources - the cont. ed =
class,
myself ,cappelli and the department. I am very concerned that when the
University decides what they will, that the ceramic program will be =
severly
underfunded and that the ceramic students will be the ones that suffer =
the
most --limitied firing results, limited supplies, under equiped studio =
and
right now a very disgruntled/ frustrated and pissed off instructor.
