warping tiles - too easy solution

Wanda -

There is a ridiculously easy way to prevent tile warping that I
picked
up from Elizabeth Priddy.

You put the slab or tiles on a sturdy board and drop them to the
floor
a couple times from waist height. Then you never move them vertically again.
You can decorate, carve, add or subtract but do not move them any way but
sliding horizontally. Even the tiniest lift to an edge will cause a warp. If
this happens, drop them again.

If you use this technique carefully, you can even dry them in the
afternoon sun and they will not warp. I didn't believe it either, but after
having done it this way for three years I can attest to the fact that it
works. I make very large wall hangings and smaller tile pieces that never
warp ... I dry them quickly in open air with no plastic or wallboard.

Chris Campbell - in North Carolina - it sounds too easy, but it works.

Damn... I love this list!
I knew someone would share a simple and ingenious solution.
Thanks Chris and Elizabeth.
I can't wait to try this one!

OK Gayle, I'll bite. I hope everyone on the list that's familiar with
tiles gets a good laugh out of this. It sounds like the old relative bearing
grease search that we sent folks on when they first came to the ship I was
on. Will ty it out and post the results.
