Hi,
Been following the recent discussion about worn bats. Here in the jungle,
our involvement with bats and clay has an additional dimension. My "studio"
is outside on a covered terrace. And no matter where you are in the Costa
Rican jungle, there are bats, the kind with wings, the world's only flying
mammals, you know what I mean.
Well, all my pots, unfired and fired are outside in my covered terrace
studio, and that roof is a great place for the batties to roost at night. So
every once in a while, one of the things I do as I get ready to play with my
clay is to take a couple of minutes to clean off the little bat poop spots
on the pieces that I haven't covered.
Bisqued a couple of pots with the battie poop on them to see what might
happen. What you'd expect, of course, just burned off.
For some cute pictures of Batboy and Audrey, the bats my rehabber wife is
rehabbing, check out our web site.
Regards,
Martin
