Dear Clayart,
A while back someone claimed to know of a superior kiln shelve. Does =
anyone remember the brand and could they send the name to me.
Thanks and Cheers,

Tom, you might be thinking of Advancer kilnshelves,
which are thin, light silicon carbide. I'm kicking
myself right now for balking at the price (a whopping
two hundred bucks apiece, almost), because the heavy,
bulky ones I got are so awkward that I seem unable to
load my kiln past halfway up (though Heather Bosworth,
who is also tiny gave me some tips I'll try next
time). Anyway, I've used the Advancers before, and
they are more than worth the money (kicking myself,
kicking myself, kicking myself), and you can get them
through Smith-Sharpe Fire Brick Supply 1-866-545-6743,
www.kilnshelf.com. Seriously, even if you just get
two, for the top of your kiln, you'll be a happier
man. I'm asking my family members to all chip in and
get me a couple of them for birthday/Christmas; that
is how good they are. Just don't get them wet. I heard
they explode, but you could ask more about it if you
call. Good luck! Jules

Tom,

Also, if you go to the Potter Barter group .
Kelly aka primalmommy moderates that group. There is a Seagrove Potter
(David Garner) who often has extra shelves to sell for (from what I know)
very reasonable prices.... and a variety of sizes. You can call him, once
you post to the list..... He tries to keep up with this list too, but
sometimes can't....

Regards,
Karen
(near Raleigh, NC..... where yesterday it was cool & today it's hot
again..... weird weather!)
