update on the @#$^# kiln problem

updated wed 8 may 02

Okay, now it's working. I haven't blown anything up
yet, and it's hour two, but I really should've paid
more attention to the propane guy when he explained
the difference between water column inches for a
natural gas kiln versus a propane kiln. I had thought
four inches was four inches, but leave it to a man to
change that (heehee... no hate mail, please). Anyway,
at least it's on, right? I figure that as long as the
cone packs make it, everything else also should...
except, maybe, for the piece I made that night when I
took a dowel, stuck it into a block of clay, fresh
from the bag, and just started swirling it. I did
hollow it out though, afterward. Well... we shall see.
Still, if there are any thoughts on why it did work/
didn't work/ did work/ etc., let me know. I eased up
on the button rrrreeeeaaaalllllyyyy
sssslllllllooooowwwwwllllyyy this time. And I haven't
quite got the balls today to head down to Lowe's and
ask where they keep their one inch nipples, but maybe
soon. I wonder if they make any herbal drinks for
courage. Energy I've got, and if I want protein, I can
eat steak, but courage is a bit tougher. Anyway,
thanks for the advice (and the support from those of
you who are as clueless as I am ;)) Take care, and
I'll write tomorrow to let y'all know how it went.
Thanks, Jules

Talk to someone about how to treat (seal) the pipe threads if you do decide
to
take the part out and put the nipple in. There are things you do for water
pipes
that you don't do for gas. And visa versa.
