Well, since this issue sparked such an interesting
debate, I will let you all know what I found to be
true after the propane line was hooked up. The kiln
does not work without electricity. The valve remains
shut until the kilnsitter is plugged in, and then the
kiln works like a charm. The kilnsitter has the same
override feature as the electric kiln, but I may as
well just pop a cone in there, anyway. I don't know
how interesting it will be during the rainy season,
but as long as I don't blow up or electrocute myself,
all should be well. Thank you for all of your
responses (though, I think I came out more confused,
