Hi:
If it's black you be wanting, I can give you a hint about black. I use
black porcelain slips in my work.
If you want to use a commercially prepared stain I would suggest Harshaw
Z-560. It's the best black stain I've used so far and I've tried most of
them. I prefer this one hands down to any of Mason's blacks. I add 10%
Z-560 to my porcelain body for a black slip and it's BLACK. If you choose
to try this, put on a good coat if you want a solid black. I spray it on
but you can brush, pour, or dip.

I wasn't really focusing on black, it just happens that this is the only
Mason stain I have, and I really can't remember why I ordered
it! However, if the slip I made today, with all your good advice, works
well, I'll certainly do more of the same. Can you tell me where you get
Harshaw's products? I don't think they're featured in any of the ceramic
supply catalogues I currently have.

Craig,
Is this what you use for the black slip trailing, on the pots in CM?
thanks
