What is it about fireclay that makes a claybody have that "tooth" and
working strength?

Adding grog seems to help a smooth clay behave more the way I like, but
a grogged body still doesn't feel like a high fireclay body. I've seen
some reference to different particle sizes in clays contributing to this
workability. =20

Are there any other clays that add similar working characteristics as
fireclay?

TIA
