I goofed here. The water in a thick slurry will be about 35% of the total
weight of the slurry. To get such a slurry, put water in the bucket equal
to 50% of the dry clay weight, and then add the clay while mixing with the
drill. That will give you a slurry that is approximately 33% water. An
average claybody is about 25% water.

It's a good thing I'm not really stupid. I had to laugh when I read this.
I've been dry mixing the glaze tests for my first glaze firing and had been
wondering about the water part. Lo and behold, yesterday I get my formula:
35 % by weight. So I dutifully weighed out 350 grams of water for my 1000
gram glaze batches, poured the water into a measuring cup to make it easier
to mix the rest of the tests (came to 12 ozs.), dumped the water into a
bucket and got ready to slake my dry mix in. Took one look at the water
level and said No way. Added 4 ozs. of water, looked at the level. No way.
Ended up using 24 ozs water plus a bit more for swishing around the mixing
pale and the sieve.

I'm sure glad to see the correction. I thought it was me.
