Hi Everyone!
I've been reading the Glaze Mixer string, and I finally know what I can do
with the old drill that I sent to myself, from my grandfather's wood shop.
It's an old corded B & D model, really heavy, but just what a mixer needs.
I returned home yesterday, from a foray on the East Coast. My Mom and I went
through everything her parents owned, in preparation for an auction, and to
clear everything out of my grandfather's house, since it was sold just a few
days ago.
My grandfather is 97, and he's doing well, at a retirement home with round
the clock nursing care. God bless him, he must have several duplicates of
every power and hand tool invented! There were enough screwdrivers, hammers,
drills and drill bits, pencils, pens, and paint can owners for everyone in
my family and then some, to have! And he had every receipt for just about
all the tools, from his first day of work, as a custodian of a high school,
to five days after he retired (as the "Head Custodian," of the entire school
district).
My Grandmother, who died in 1983, also collected lots of ceramic
knick-knacks, which were sold at the local "5 and 10" store she worked in,
in the early part of her adult life. I'm expecting the shipment of a few of
these items, which may have some collectable value, any day now. There is
one vase that particularly intrigued me--a bright yellow high-fire vase,
that is otherwise not very attractive.
Best wishes!
