A quick way to find out is to scribble with a six B pencil on a bit of =
bisque and fire it. I think you will find that the pencil mark burns =
away before you get to a high enough temperature to start the heavy =
reduction, which would help to preserve it.

Ivor and Tommy,
I will have a test of this in a week or so. Drew designes on a tester
bowl in an 8B pencil, decided not to use them and dunked it in a carbon trap
shino. I'll post results when I fire.
