Hi Brian,
Let me first give you addresses and #īs
All the phone codes a few months ago just
changed so what is missing alot of times are a few
area codes depending on the state. Where I can I will
give you the complete number. If I am not sure I will
let you know.

Refractarios Green S A Mex
Tlanepantla, Estado de Mexico
AP Green t28 lighweight porous fire brick and heavy
fire brick and fibre de vidrio compacto. (Everthing
you need to build a kiln) 565 32 00 look up the area
code for estado de mexico. There might be 01 55 5 at
the beginning and then the number I stated

Distri Materiales Refractarios
53 58 70 86
53 58 99 90 fax
This is where I buy barro de zacatecas which is a fire
clay that everyone here uses also as a grog. It is
worth it. They might even ship to you by bus. I
believe they have a catalog and will mail it.

In Mexico city all sorts of oxides etc you can find at

La Cosmopolita 01 55 55 93 99 90. I donīt know if they
have lists of what they sell. That is quite rare.
Usually you sort of have to guess.

I have another address here that I have never written
to and there is an email address also
K grupo Kalidad 01 55 56 72 52 60 I think it is Mexico
City the email is
gkalidad@data.net.mx

I have other addresses for clay but they are very
local and do not think they ship. Easier to find that
source close by.

I think the best is to find a ceramist closer to you
if you can.
All the great ceramic catalogs in the states are no
where to be found here.
Check your red clay for lime. I have not had the best
luck with local clays but that is just bad luck. I am
sure there are great brick clays.
Sounds like a nice adventure. Have you made pots in
the rain season yet? That is my biggest battle. I live
high in the mountains and sometimes the clouds engulf
my studio for weeks. This year I built a chimney
inside my studio to keep warm, dry and also to use for
a kind of pit fire. I will close it up with bricks and
fill it with sawdust.
Mexico is a wonderful country. Feel free to contact me
for any other questions and hopefully I can help at
least a bit.
Good luck!
Karen
