Surfing for Clay: March 2002 URLS

March wasn't a month I did much surfing, being busy with my article for PMI,
but
I found a few sites worth visiting, I think.

So, do enjoy!

Helen

Matt Hoogland
http://www.pitfire.com/home.html
Pitfire Pottery
Good site, good pottery
Matt's wife does miniature pottery, also good.
Both sites have educational components.

John Chalke Calgary, Alberta, Canada (UK born) potter
http://www.trianglegallery.com/exhibits/chalke/index.html
http://www.discoveralberta.com/Features/GalleryGuide/6-88531.html
From Leach backwards to 17th. Century Japan and on to colour
extra-ordinaire.
One of the first ever Governor General's Award in Visual & Media Arts
(2002).

John and Dorothy Weber (Clayarters)
http://home.attbi.com/~jodo96/index.htm
Jodo Pottery
I don't often include Clayart potters in these surfing notes,
because they are included in my "Clayarters' URLS" and "Clayart Members'
URLS"
posts.
However, the work here is very fine ash & glazed wood-fired pieces with reed
or
bamboo handles.
Also, there's a photo of Dorothy at her wheel, standing up, throwing.

Three for the Prichos site...
David Méndez
http://www.k-prichos.com/art/obrartsp.asp?obr1=008
Latin American - fantastic sculpture in stoneware.

Vera Csik
http://www.k-prichos.com/obrpiez/obras.asp?obr=023VC010
Sculpture figures of women - very strong pieces

Minerva Chango is on this site also:
http://www.k-prichos.com/art/mchango.asp

Terra Ceramics Delft / Terra Keramiek Delft (The Netherlands)
http://www.terra-delft.nl/english/index_en.html
Lots of vessels here in this Dutch ceramists' gallery in the City of Delft,
Netherlands

Fukami Sueharu
http://www.ukans.edu/~sma/smahome/collection/asky2l.htm
Sky II - Porcelain wing with base
Spencer Museum of Art ukansas
More about this artist here:
http://www.e-yakimono.net/html/fukami-sueharu.html

Joan B. Mirviss Gallery
http://www.mirviss.com/ceramics.html
While searching for more of Fukami Sueharu, I found this gallery.
A "Flash" type site, with quick loading of images.
Various Japanese Fine Arts, antique and contemporary.

Bill Reddick (Canada)
http://www.billreddick.com/
Bill lives very near me. He finally has a web page.
He does beautiful work in celedon porcelain and stoneware with shino glazes.
A very quiet man, he has focussed on developing his skill.
Collectors take note! The prices for his pieces are rising rather quickly.

The National Teapot Show 1999
>From The Teapot Show at Strat's Place online gallery.
http://www.stratsplace.com/arts/ccreek/teapots/t_show3.html
Teapot # 209 "Artist Unkown"

< There was no info included with this pot. If you know the creator,
< please have them contact Cedar Creek Gallery. mailto:ajs@astrat.com

Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA)
http://monet.unk.edu/mona/
I believe I've sent you the link to MONA once before, but there are more
exhibitions archived now.
Click on "Exhibitions", click on "Recent major exhibitions", click on any
show
with "Rendezvous" in the title.
Click on the graphic "R" of just wait a bit - the page will load.

Makoto Hatori (Japan)
http://www2r.biglobe.ne.jp/~makoto-h/shot.html
Sculptor and potter
Pages scroll slowly and don't stay put. Seems deliberate. You can read
the text. Hard to skip around the sit. Free-standing menu page.
