On a visit to Mexico I was told that the burnished unglazed ware they =
were producing which was made from very fine clays and slips, needed to =
be fired to a temp. of not more than 800 degrees C. to retain the =
polish.
My stoneware clays.. all of them.. never retain burnishing which I =
sometimes use to finish a foot ring after turning, and require polishing =
after firing... to Cone 10 Reduction.
As Snail said.. you have to choose between a burnished surface or =
Stoneware... and my experiences agree with him.
