This base glaze is short of silica so is not a good choice for food bearing
surfaces.

It has a very high expansion ( high expansion on heating - high contraction
on cooling) so I would be surprised if it did not craze on any clay. One of
the problems with glazes that are low in silica - they are difficult to
stop crazing. Adding silica to a glaze is one way to help stop crazing.
