The amount your are sending should not be a problem. It doesn't smell like
cocaine so you will be fine. Unless someone else is going over seas and
volunteers to bring the materials for you, I would be happy to ship the
materials to you. I ship frequently over seas and I don't believe it would
be a problem. I also have a variety of glazes that may suit your needs.
Tony
Thank you.

Subject: Sending materials from USA to Continent ?
Hello all,
I am working on a project to organise some "Naked Raku" Workshops in
Tallahassee-Florida and California area, scheduled for spring/summer 2003.
One of the problems is that I can not bring along my own slips and
glazes, which are based on European materials.
In "liquid form" these would deteriorate because of "freezing" in the
plane's cargo hold.
On the other hand, sending "dry materials" by airfreight is very
expensive for quantities needed, and I
would like to keep the workshop fee as low as possible.
One other factor is that I would also prefer to use American
materials, so that any students wanting to continue experimenting
afterwards, do have the correct recipes to start with.
So I should be able to have small samples of USA-materials sent over
to Belgium, so that I can test them all out this autumn and winter,
as to have 100% reliable recipes.
I could then make necessary slip & glaze buckets at the spot, the
day before these workshops.....
Sending over "Powder" from USA seems to be a problem, in regard of
security measures....
Does anyone of the Group has any experience with sending over this
kind of stuff out of USA ?
Or heard about it ?
Or could anyone contact the local post office, shipping agent, or
courrier service (DHL, or equivalent) ?
Just to check out possibillities, problem solution, prices, transit
time, etc....
Or would you know anyone coming over from USA to Western Europe, area
Netherlands-Belgium-Northern France, prior to end 2002, who would be
willing to bring along this parcel with his "hand luggage" (of course
after checking if this would be allowed by airport authority)
Quantity concerned would be about 1 to 1.5 kilogram in total (small
samples of frit, nepheline, 2 or 3 dry clays, flint, kaolin)
Any help in this regard is very wellcome !
Best regards
