A frequent topic in school was the
affect of one's perception of work when
seen via slide/digital or film,
printed image or movie.....
Any time a three dimensional object is
reduced to two dimensions there is
opportunity to change how one perceives the
object.
I have certainly used the potential of the slide...
or have been disappointed with the view of the
object and what I wanted to communicate.
Someone at Cal State Long Beach developed
his Master's Thesis on the subject.

I do not think there is any way around the
subject or it's potential and/or problems if we
want to provide the communication of images
over great distances.
One just needs to be aware of the media.
Seems most of us have spent our lifetimes
taking media driven images as a substitute
for reality.
So if one is to function is a visual world.....
use the tools effectively.

This is a widely applied truth. I once heard a VP of Engineering for
Toshiba talk on the subject of "Engineering in the 21st Century." His
advice to his engineers was to make sure that they did not mistake the
computer driven image of what they were designing for the reality of how it
would be used, or even the clean room environment where it would be
manufactured.
