Does anyone else regularly get odd posts asking questions about
ceramics in general or requesting information on particular subjects
and/or problems? I seem to be getting a couple a week these days.
Anything from how to make tiles which don't warp to dating ceramic
pieces (usually manufactured in the UK). They do not appear to be
coming from Claybuds, at least not anyone I recognise from
"conversations".
Anyway, does anyone collect manufactured "theme" teapots or know
anything about them? I know it is a huge market, but have never taken
much notice... Anyway, I have been sent an image of the pot which the
good lady would like to date. I have posted the images and request as
received at: http://www.clayart.fsnet.co.uk/teapot.html for any likely
helpers to check out. Any help would be much appreciated.
BTW I have no idea what she means by a SWANSEA teapot. A request for
further explanation went unanswered. As the pot shows a telephone on
the lid, this is not regular Swansea ware as far as I know. Then again
these old historical and defunct names are sometimes re-established in
an attempt to cash in on the commercial value of antiques.
