I have looked at quite a few kiln manufacturers and with the
exception of those that have double wall construction, I do not
understand how a kiln can be rated for Cone 10 operation if they only
use K-23 brick in the construction.
I have read that for continuous operation it is wise to use materials
that are rated for 250 degrees hotter than you expect to fire.
If this is the case and many kiln manufacturers are using K-23 brick
in their electric kilns then why when building your own kiln do all
the books I have read reccommend K-26 brick on the hotface anf k-23
used for the backup insulation?
It just doesn't seem to make sense?
