Have recently tried Hawaiian Red II, and love it for handbuilt work. Two questions: It seems hardly any more vitrious at cone 5 than 05. Is this your experience? Also, I would like to find either recipes or commercial clear and white majolica base which are compatible (craze free) for functional work. I am not an experienced glaze developer, but know many of you are. Thanks so much.

I have used Hawaiian Red as well, and found that it did not hold water even
when fired to cone 6.
There are many other commercial red cone 6 stoneware clays.... my two
favorites in that temperature range are Aardvark SRF and (to a lesser
extent) Navajo Wheel. Both of these have good color response to lots of
cone 6 oxidation glazes, and both throw more smoothly -- containing much
less grog/sand than Hawaiian Red.
For a glossy white glaze, you could try Tony Hansen's 5x20 glaze with
additions of tin and/or superpax for white:
