I have seen an excellent means of using just the Hewitt Packard ink jet for black decals turn out like old photos just off black toward a tan. First firing the pot with a glaze and then refiring  at ^019 to ^012 with the decal paper after having been printed on with the ink from the HP.

Seen this done awesome results!!!!!!!!!! Cost is so minimal!!!!!!!!!!! I can not even accept the cost the people are asking! However this is just one color!

I hope someone puts up a better source than the one I have since it is
pretty expensive there.
Anyway you can get it at http://www.micromark.com .

Do you have to use actual decal paper? That ink is water soluble (I assume since it runs if the paper gets wet), so could you just transfer it on to the glazed surface? Can't wait to try it.
