If anyone on list is considering building an air powered extruder, I
found some very inexpensive ram cylinders perfect for this
application. Get them at Surplus Center in Nebraska
1.800.488.3407
A great 6" cylinder with a 17" stroke that develops 3530 psi of thrust
at 250psi air input, a bit over 2k psi at 125 input. they are only $139.
Perfect for a 9 or 10 inch expansion box extruder.
They also have vacuum pumps (pugmill) and dc motors and
controllers if you want to build an electric wheel.
Usual disclamers, I have no interest in this company.

Bill,
I could not locate a web site for them, but I called the 800 number
and they sent me a thick catalogue, some of the prices are great,
some are high, but this cylinder is the lowest I have seen. I paid 350
for the five inch I got last year and the three inch I got was 150 and
did not have enough power for the ten inch expansion box.
The six inch cylinder in the catalogue is perfect for a big extruder.
Their number is 800.488.3407
