slow cooling pit fire

Hi,

It's Wednesday and the pit is still cooling from Sunday?

I'd say take the metal off and maybe even dig up a little of the top soil. If
you were going for black, I'm sure the carbon has infused fairly deeply at
this point.

I don't know what kind of clay you used, or what you mean by a slow cool. If
the pots are just warm to the touch, you should probably be fine taking them
out. If you used a strong, groggy clay body, your pots will probably not
crack if you take them out at this point beyond any crack that may have
already formed.

I've had some slow cooling pits before, but three days is way more cautious
than I normally am.
