Greetings...
This probably seems like a really silly question, but most of my work is so
small that I have never really considered it worth-while to purchase all of
the chemicals to mix my own glazes. With the exception of 5 or 6 pieces a
year, most of my work could easily be dipped into a "test batch" mixed in a
baby food jar... Does anyone know of anyplace where I can provide a glaze
recipe and order the glazes pre-mixed? maybe in 1000 gram or 1 lb. batches?
I have very limited storage space in my studio and it simply doesn't make
sense to me to purchase large amounts of glaze chemicals when a 1000 gram
test batch will generally last me 2-3 months.
Thank you in advance for any help/information.
Andi.

Andi - I imagine just about any potter, particularly one with a teaching
studio, would weigh out chemicals for your recipes, and charge you for the
chemicals and a fee for their trouble. It would still be cheaper than
buying commercial glazes. I've supplied glazes (dry) to many of my
ex-students who now have their own studios, but don't want/haven't the space
for containers of raw materials. They just need to wet and seive them.
