I wrote in the past about a kiln carcass I scrounged to convert to
weed-burner heat. I put it out in front of my studio, but needed a way
both to keep it dry, and to hide it from nosy neighbors from the new
development behind us... on the assumption that people who would call
the police about a couple of laying hens would likely call the fire
department if they susected what I weas up to after dark over here.

I have a picture of how I hit it, making "garden art" out of trsh picked
wooden shutters and building a 5 sided cupola roof. It can all be
removed for firing. It's at

Also, Elca Branman, I want you to see how I painted my doors after you
showed me that African Canvas book.... the photo is on the same page.

Yours, Kelly in Ohio... canning blueberry syrup and making slab built
tofu presses today...

Elca & Kelly,
I saw that wonderful (African Canvas) book briefly at my first clay workshop
4 years ago.
I've wanted to get it but couldn't remember the name. Now I can!
Thanks,
