I know that we have several members that live in the Monterey area of
California.. I willl be there in about three weeks and would appreciate some
directions to "Clay Happenings" and/or potters that might not object to a
quick visit. , shops, galleries, shows, sales, etc
.
Thanks.. Jim in
Denton.

Hi in Denton,

I know of one gallery I'd like to visit -- it's the Winfield Gallery on Dolores between Ocean & 7th. I show there but have never gotten my butt up there. Chris is the owner and a doll -- he shows all media and has some Beatrice Wood, Bennett Bean and lots of other wonderful work.

Well, I used to sell at Nepenthe in Big Sur. There was a great gift
shop/gallery there and the terrace was a great place to have lunch.
Two or three galleries selling clay in Big Sur.

Best, Hank

There's a very good co-op studio called Peninsula Potters between Monterey and
Carmel. They're located in a funky little industrial park, but
don't let that deter
you... they do some really nice work. (Besides, you can get there
from 17-mile
drive, which is well worth doing.) They have a website at
http://www.penpots.com/ .
