raku slip

I'm trying some colored raku slips using the base raku clay dried, =
ground up, with stain added. While running this through a #60 screen, I =
realized I was screening out the grog.
I'm going to test this anyway on wet and leather hard, but am wondering =
if I should be leaving the grog in for better compatibility with base =
clay.

Hello Mike
this is the proper way to do, do not worry about the grog.

Mike, the sieving of the grog from the slip will facilitate a smoother
surface quality. As far as I know there will not be any deliterious effects.
I do the same thing, without the oxide addition, and apply the slip to the
trimmed portion of my pots to get rid of scarring and trim lines.
