Dear Bruce and Marcia,
Thank you so much for sharing your insight and experience with horsehair =
raku. I am going to try lowering the bisque temperature, even though I =
use Standard's raku clay, which I know will not ring at that =
temperature. I will also try to form a windblock in the area where my =
kiln is. It does get pretty windy sometimes.

Still, I am curious to know...what is the largest pot you have =
successfully fired in this way?

My larger pots are about 12 inches dia. after firing. The largest one was
also about 12 inches tall. Anything larger won't fit in my tiny raku kiln.
And they do ring, even at low bisque temp - not like vitrified ware, but not
a thud, either.

in northern Michigan where the temperature and humidity have finally dropped
a little. Right in the middle of show season. Low inventory is starting to
worry us and there aren't too many in the production line. Sara (chocolate
lab) is wondering why we don't play with her on weekends any more.
