I just received my new Raku kiln yesterday, with the help of friends we were
able to schlepp it back to the site. I don't have any more room for glaze
storage, so I'm going to buy dry Raku glazes (for the time being), does
anyone have a suggestion as to brand and colors that have worked well for
you? Most of the catalogs don't show good samples of colors.
I'd appreciate any help I can get.

Hi Karen,
Thanks for the information. I selected a few of the glazes and forwarded to
my daughter, she wants to buy them for my birthday. Darn, that kiln looks
good, can you have it outside? I chose the Olympic because it is brick lined
and I didn't have an inside place to put a kiln.
Thank you for your help.

Hi Karin,
Check out Clay Art Center in Tacoma -- they do some wonderful raku glazes (website: www.clayartcenter.com). I use their essence red (I do buy it dry) -- it's a killer red.
Also, to all you rakuers, I bought their "clamshell" raku kiln -- they built it higher for me for my bigger pieces. It's a fabulous kiln and enables you to pull directly if you want as the sides both lower for easy access. I highly recommend it -- and I thought I had the world's best raku kiln before I bought it. This one is better!

Hi again Karin,
A raku kiln MUST be outside -- it's dangerous enough outside, inside you'd burn your house down! Good luck and I hope you enjoy the glazes. Also, please make sure you about safety techniques when rakuing, ok?
