Paul Taylor:
perhaps the way to think about the crystalline solid aluminum
hydroxide, empirically (simplest form) cited as Al(OH)3, is to cast the
empirical formula into a another equal structure: 2Al(OH)3 = Al2O3.3H2O
oftimes callled alumina trihydrate. So, one mole of trihydrate loses 3
moles of water and becomes one mole of alumina, Al2O3.
work it out from there.

PS: sadly, the word "slurry" is well embedded in chemical engineering
technology for it to address Irish sensitivities, and hence adopt another
term.
PPS: BTW, your ISP doesn't like posts directly from me. Why?

be well. Peace. Tom B.
