has a wonderful white crackle, and a
great copper recipe. A friend and I fired both in the same firing in my =

raku many times
in all kinds of raku kilns as well as up at the college. She echoed =
that this was the best firing she'd seen.

2) I found a great pair of raku gloves at
Aardvark several years ago, ordering
from their catalog. I would think other suppliers have them. Laguna? =
Axner?
Seattle Clay? They are all extremely helpful and have functioned beyond =
the call of duty many times trying to respond to my quest for odd =
materials; at least, that's been my experience.

During the video, "Beginning Raku with Gordon Hutchens", Gordon uses
both a copper raku glaze and a white crackle on the same pot. Recipes
for the glazes are included on the back.
Matt White Crackle Glaze
Gerstley Borate 80
Nepheline Syenite 20
Bone Ash 18

Copper Matt
Gerstley Borate 80
Nepheline Syenite 20
Bone Ash 20
Copper Carbonate 7
Cobalt Carbonate 3

Clear Glaze
Gerstley Borate 80
Nepheline Syenite 20

Juicy Turquoise
Gerstley Borate 40
Nepheline Syenite 20
Lithium Carbonate 40
Copper Carbonate 3

To get a great crackle effect on the white matt glaze, Gordon blew on
the glaze for about 10-20 seconds before putting the pot into a post
fire reduction. He never really gave a cone for the glazes but saw when
the glazes matured (going from a foamy surface to a shiny one).
