Sam;
Hows does it handle slow cooling? Does it stay clear?

How about a Matt clear? I was hoping for one in R&J's book and didn't find
one. I know it is a little hard to get matt clears that don't go milky so I
was hoping for a good place to start.
Thanks

Does anyone have a recipe that they're willing to share for a clear or transparent glaze? I fire cone 5-6 oxidation in a electric kiln. I'm swirling a dark brown clay from Highwaters with a white B-mix from Laguna. The clays blend very well without separating but the glaze (Laguna 1125) is crazing no matter what I try. (thinning, soaking, higher / lower temps, etc.) I bought a set of Ohaus scales, the book "Mastering Cone 6 Glazes", and now hope you folks can help.
Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff,
I am going to patch in (cut & paste) Tony Hansen's 5 X 20 glaze.
5 X 20 Tony Hansen's ^5-6
20 3134
20 Potash feldspar
20 wolastonite
20 flint
20 kaolin
To opacify, add 10% Zircopax.
This is a great liner glaze.

Seems fine; and is perfectly clear as long as it is applied in a uniform,
thin coat.

Marianne,
I've mixed this glaze for the community studio at which I teach. Some
students have had problems with the glaze clouding on dark clay. I
attribute this to application and not necessarily the slow cooling. A
thinner application seems to work best. And it needs to be fired to a real
^6.

When fast fired, this was a smooth clear waxy semi-gloss. When slow cooled
it goes translucent.
