Hello Alisa
This recipe might mislead.
My teacher after a workshop with David Jones came to class excited and said : A new
recipe 85 frit and 15 kaolin, I belive it is like yours Alisa.
David Jones did not know that the main sold frit in Israel has 0.1 mol of alumina. I think
He might of think of BPS soft borax frit with 0.01 mol alumina the higher is the alumina
the glaze will mature in a higher cone. When you raku and try to get your ware ready in
950-1000C ^08-^06 you must know what you use. Borax frit can be 3195 or 3134 yet
there are differences.
We need the lowest alumina possible frit that allows us to use more kaolin and save
our CMC for other uses.
Here is the analysis of:

Soft borax frit Bath 100.00 100.00%
========
100.00

CaO 0.25* 4.80%
MgO 0.01* 0.10%
K2O 0.01* 0.19%
Na2O 0.73* 15.30%
Al2O3 0.01 0.31%
B2O3 1.33 31.20%
SiO2 2.38 48.11%

Si:Al263.89
SiB:Al411.67
Expan 9.37

The way I have it in Insight
This frit has two disadvantages
1) the high cost at the shop.
2) As having above 30% B2O3 it crystallize after a while
The rest is advantage!
About ball clay: In my different tests the ball clay ( AK) caused tiny crackles that
caused gray look to the glazes. Because of this reason I used only kaolin.
