Dear Ed,
Someone else mentioned Alligator is dry. That is true. If you want
shiney, use some copper sand or copper penny, or red bronze.
Go to Tom Buck's site
http://www.digitalfire.com/education/glaze/buckraku.htm
for lots of recipes.

I want to get those rich shiny reds and blues. I get them only on the base of the menorah {somewhat dry}. The upper part is a dull copper color. How can I get those rich colors over the entire piece, preferably shiny??.
