as moderator of clayart i am a board member of
`professional potters`. in fact, i may be president.
not telling anyone. i have had to look at richard
aernie's slides, many times. oh, the trouble we
had letting him in. but, he squeaked in at a 7-5
vote. we included a note that he should learn to
make big plates and soup tureens. we think that
he should make lasagna platters too. if he could
just get some help from ron roy with his runny
glazes...and change to a bright blue, well, it would
help. we also think he should flatten out his glazes.
you know, one color, without all that texture. of
course, he is just a learner....he will make progress
as he ages. maturity, that is all he needs.
we will keep on him, make sure he toes the mark.
he has the potential to become a full time potter.

how would one know it was time to glaze, if you did
not plug in the old electric frying pan, full of wax and
oil? it is a glazers afro/d/zee ak.
and, my answer to why decorate with wax?.....well, you
get one chance...cannot wash it off. it takes courage
and commitment to decorate with wax. it does not
forgive. (but, when it goes just right, the wax is flowing,
the brush is perfect....it is magic.)
