I was visiting Poland, as an Esperantist and Healer, from 1987 to 1999, for
a month each year. The last time I went there was in 2000.

There is precious little pottery made in Poland, but there is one village,
which I cannot remember the name of, which has good clay and has become a
centre for it. Work from there is held at most tourist shops in the south
and south west.

Most Poles use glass instead of clay, but most apartments will have a
selection of Hungarian Pottery on show in a glass cabinet.

I took over some mugs as gifts. I intended that they be used. Oh no.
Straight into the display cabinet and very likely never to have any liquid
in them at all!

That is what you will be up against in that beautiful land of wonderful
people.
(Watch out for thieves; they are everywhere and extremely clever.)

I think, Martin Howard means the little town Boleslawiec. In former times it
belonged to Germany and was named "Bunzlau". People make pottery there since
the 14. century.
See web-sites:

www.polpott.com
www.gronowitz.de > a collectors homepage with old items.

Hope it helps.
