slipcast junk? i never said that!

I never said junk! It's just out of style... pottery collectors want
something else... matt glazes and asian aesthetic.
You've obviously never seen a wholesale show full of good potters...
making sculpture and production lines that have wonderful glazes
and real technical skill. Hobbiests underpricing and academics
overpricing are killing the market for ceramics ...while glassblowers
just keep making good work and building their brands so that they
can sell any kind of sculpture they want to make! You have to work
your way up the ladder by starting at the bottom! I hope that this
community never becomes limited to trust-fund potters... that would
be a real shame. There is no shame in making a living at what you love.

>Dear Wendy,
>>From your post bemoaning the slipcast junk you encountered at a
>wholesale show, I thought you were interested in more individual wares.
>Actually I have no desire to turn out the same piece ad infinitum, even
>if I could make money doing so. That sounds too much like factory work!
>Perhaps like the junk you found at the wholesale show?
>One of the things I've noticed is that "standardised lines" of pottery,
>even when made on the wheel, tend to get a kind of lifelessness to them.
>Thanks and best wishes,
